That first version combined a GeoCLIP-based geo-estimation model with follow-up tools like web search and Overpass to narrow down a likely location. Today, we are introducing GeoSeer Agent v1, our most capable geolocation framework yet.
What changed
We rebuilt the agent workflow after running a lot of internal testing on which tools actually move the needle, which ones are only useful in specific cases, and where parallel execution saves the most time.
The result is a faster system that is easier to coordinate and more accurate in practice.
The new workflow works in layers:
- An EXIF agent handles file metadata first.
- A geo-estimation layer then runs four agents in parallel: area estimation, reverse image search, web search, and visual reasoning.
- Their outputs are merged into a stronger estimation before moving to the next stage.
- A geo-pinpointing layer then uses satellite data, map data, and location search agents to collect candidate coordinates.
- Finally, our image pairing model compares those candidates against street view imagery and ranks the closest matches for the user.
Why it matters
By simplifying the workflow and using the right tools at the right stage, we improved both speed and cost efficiency while also lifting accuracy.
In internal testing, our accuracy for pinpointing locations within 1 km improved by more than 20%. The new image pairing model played a big role there, and the reorganized geo-estimation layer helped the system process information more effectively.
